SSA started as a Montessori school in 2010. As SSA progressed through the years, we have adapted our curriculum to meet the needs of our students. The directors of SSA stay up-to-date on the goals and curriculum of the local schools to help ensure our students are more than ready for their next stepping stone in regard to their education. The Montessori Method supports and encourages multi-age grouping. Preschool children work with younger children; giving the older children leadership skills, and encouraging younger children to accomplish more challenging activities. Multi-age grouping also promotes respect between older children and younger children, and reinforces knowledge. Montessori also SSA continues to use this method within our program and other aspects of Montessori and some Montessori materials such as hands-on learning, following the child, progression of learning and learning independence, coordination, concentration and order.
SSA currently uses Experience Curriculum in conjunction with the Montessori Method. Experience Curriculum is an integrated curriculum system that uniquely weaves 35 research-based skills into playful games and discovery projects. The cross- disciplinary models supports a child's on-going social-emotional, physical, language and cognitive development. The domains within Experience Curriculum are Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Language and Literacy Development, Social Studies Development, Science Development, and Creative Development. Experience Curriculum is aligned with the Colorado Early Learning Development Guidelines, Head Start Standards and NAEYC.
Experience Curriculum is also aligned with our student portal called Brightwheel. Families can log into their child's online portal or app on their phone. The weekly lesson plans are posted under the Learning tab. Staff will also take pictures and videos of your child completing the curriculum as well as doing other things throughout their day with us and post these onto the child's Daily.
